Working in the Arts with a neurodiversity

Online

More and more people who work in the Arts are being diagnosed as neurodiverse, or are beginning to suspect that they might be, but what impact does that have on our lives and careers in an already difficult industry?

Trained Counsellor Selina Speight will lead us through an exploration of the most common types of neurodiversity (autism, ADHD, OCD, etc), the impact being neurodiverse can have on our careers, what workplaces can do better to support team members who are neurodiverse, and how we can better understand and look after ourselves in the short, medium and long term.

The casting process

Online

The casting process can be challenging for everyone involved, be it casting director or performer, and can often have a negative impact on our mental health and wellbeing.

In this workshop, casting director Amy Jackson (BBC, Amazon, Apple TV, HBO) will share with us the challenges of being a casting director, the pressures she faces, and the impact it has on her own wellbeing.

We will also explore how the casting process works from a performer's point of view, including what are the points of greatest stress, what are the conditions that allow people to perform to the best of their ability, and how can we cope with the inevitable nerves and anxiety that come with auditioning in person or recording a self time.
